Lanhi Steel arch frame trolley Assists in the Construction of the Batang Hydropower Station Project in Indonesia

   In April 2023, Lanhi’s newly upgraded lightweight LG312M intelligent Steel arch frame trolley was shipped overseas to Indonesia, contributing to the construction of the Batang Hydropower Station project.

   The Batang Hydropower Station, constructed by PowerChina Hydropower No.10 Engineering Company, is located in the mid-to-lower reaches of the Batang Toru River in Indonesia. It is one of the key hydropower projects being developed by Indonesia's state-owned electricity company and is currently the largest hydropower station under construction in the country.

   Power demand across the island of Sumatra in Indonesia is growing rapidly, while the growth rate of installed power capacity remains at just 5.2%. The Batang Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 4 × 127.5 MW, amounting to 510 MW in total, and an average annual power generation of 2.228 billion kWh. It is expected to significantly ease the region’s power shortage and is considered Indonesia’s own version of the "Three Gorges Project." However, the hydropower station is situated in a region with extremely harsh natural conditions, featuring numerous steep slopes and deep gullies. Successfully constructing the hydropower station requires tunneling through challenging geological environments.

   To meet this challenge, Lanhi deployed its newly upgraded lightweight LG312M intelligent Steel arch frame trolley to the Batang Hydropower Station—Indonesia’s largest ongoing hydropower project. The equipment features a lightweight design and compact dimensions, making it more maneuverable and flexible in small to medium-sized tunnels.

   This advanced jumbo integrates multiple processes such as point marking, undercutting, arch installation, mesh welding, and rebar connection. It features a triple-arm, triple-gripper, and triple-basket configuration (with telescopic arms), wireless remote control operation, two hydraulic breakers, and three welding machines. It supports simultaneous undercutting and welding during arch installation and is adaptable to various tunneling methods, including full-face excavation, double-bench, and triple-bench construction.

   When paired with Lanhi’s patented prefabricated arch installation method, only three workers are needed to complete the installation of three arch segments in just 50 minutes. The system boasts high erection efficiency, minimal labor requirements, a high degree of mechanization, enhanced safety, and strong adaptability.

   Additionally, Lanhi has provided the LHP40 series robotic shotcrete machines to the Batang Hydropower Station to further support the efforts of the PowerChina Hydropower No.10 Engineering Company. With the goal of delivering a high-quality project, Lanhi aims to help make the Batang project a model of China-Indonesia cooperation and a benchmark project under the Belt and Road Initiative.
